Comedian Savel Rhines
Author of The High-Life
A rising force on the underground comedy scene, Comedian Savel Rhines comes via Port City better known as Shreveport, Louisiana. Influenced by Bill Cosby, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor & Martin Lawrence growing up, you can hear traces of each in Savel’s routine. From his ad-libs, impersonations, visual and verbal routines, he goes out of his way to make sure those listening are entertained.
Born in 1982, from a youth it appeared Savel was destined to be a comedian. He acted up in school and got into enough mischief to be voted class clown by his classmates each year from kindergarten to eighth grade. After high school, Savel attended Dillard University in New Orleans majoring in computer science before moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in 2002.
Summer 2005 at Bellbottoms in Euless, Texas is where Savel began his comedy career. He went on to perform and/or host at other venues including the Back Door Comedy club in Dallas and the Funny Bone in Shreveport. One of Savel’s career highlights thus far was being a contestant in the 2005 edition of BET’s Coming to the Stage competition, advancing past the initial round before bowing out for personal reasons.
Currently Savel’s comedic talents are being featured on The Vincent Tucker Radio Show, a podcast available online at 360DRadio.com. As the author of “The High-Life”, Savel effectively uses everything that makes him great on stage to make him great on radio. He’s part of the reason why the weekly program is the #1 critically-acclaimed radio show on the 360 D Network.
